Mysterious packages at embassies in Australia: Bomb squad officers were called to the French and Israeli embassies in Canberra on Monday following the discovery of suspicious packages, police said.

Death and mayhem on a Florida highway: A long line of cars and trucks collided one after another early Sunday on a dark Florida highway so shrouded in haze and smoke that drivers were virtually blinded. At least 10 people were killed. Visibility was so poor that when rescuers first arrived, they could only listen for screams and moans to locate victims, police said. At least 18 people were hurt. Authorities were still trying to determine what caused the pileup south of Gainesville on Interstate 75, which had been closed for a time because of the mixture of fog and heavy smoke from a brush fire that may have been intentionally set. At least five cars and six tractor-trailers were involved, and some burst into flame.......

What the jury in the Shafia case didn't hear

Among other things, the account from an eyewitness was withheld. I hope the decision to  keep the 8 year old's testimony  from the jurors  will not come back to haunt the Crown.

Jurors now deciding the fate of three members of a Montreal family accused of killing four other family members are unaware that there was an eyewitness to some events at the isolated spot where the victims were found dead.....

An 8-year-old boy testified, at a hearing held in February 2010, that he saw two vehicles at the canal at 1: 40 a.m. on June 30. The boy, who lives in a house on a spit of land 200 metres from the canal, was awake, getting a drink of water when he heard what he described as a "splash, kind of a crash." The boy went to the home's rear deck, which affords a clear view of the canal. He saw two vehicles, one larger vehicle with its headlights on, illuminating another, smaller vehicle, with its headlights off.

The smaller vehicle was on the grass "near the water," the boy testified, at the preliminary hearing, a proceeding that was conducted to determine if there was enough evidence to put the accused on trial. The larger vehicle appeared to be on the road.

The boy said he also heard another sound, like a car horn, "like just 'beep' and then gone." He heard it a few minutes after the "splashcrash." He did not see or hear any people. The boy said he watched for a few minutes, then went back inside his house and went back to bed at 2 a.m. Police interviewed him later that morning.....

Florida schools prep for the coming Shariah

Kelly Miliziano, who teaches history classes at Steinbrenner High School in the Tampa, Florida area apparently thinks it’s perfectly OK to invite a senior official of a HAMAS-affiliated organization into her classroom to discuss Islam with her students. According to local media reports, not only has this been going on for years, but in spite of the civil and criminal proceedings that could result from such reckless negligence, the Hillsborough County school superintendant, Mary Ellen Elia, and the chairman of the school board, Candy Olson, also expressed approval for students under their responsibility to be exposed repeatedly to guest speaker, Hassan Shibly, who is the Executive Director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Tampa area.

And why is CAIR a problem? CAIR is an Islamic organization that was listed by the Department of Justice (DoJ) as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) HAMAS terror funding trial more than three years ago. According to the DoJ evidence submitted in that trial, CAIR was irrefragably demonstrated to be an element of the HAMAS Palestine Committee in the U.S. HAMAS, of course, is the Palestinian off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza and a U.S.-government-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. Therefore, it is readily appreciated that CAIR is actually HAMAS doing business in the U.S. under another name. Based on that evidence as well as the unanimous guilty verdict for the HLF defendants in the 2008 trial, the FBI severed all ties with CAIR the following year.....

On a single day, the New York Times has been known to publish anywhere from two to six anti-Israel articles, editorials, op-ed pieces, and letters. Today, I see a new danger arising in their pages.

After spending a year proclaiming the triumph of democracy and the miracle of the Arab Spring and, as PM Netanyahu has just noted, refusing to document the existential danger in which Israel finds herself, the Newspaper of Record has now begun the process of normalizing Islam in North America and Europe. Its pro-Muslim "multicultural" agenda is, paradoxically, another form of racism, but I quibble.

Yesterday, there were at least three articles (3,200 words, four photos, one illustration), devoted to Islam in America and Europe. A 934-word op-ed article titled "How to Integrate Europe's Muslims" by a Boston College professor is a veritable manifesto of appeasement and racism disguised as a rational call for integration and fairness. Jonathan Laurence suggests that Muslims will be "integrated" into Europe if they are allowed to study Islam at state-sponsored schools, continue their Muslim religious practices, veil women, speak Arabic, Persian, Dari, etc. In his view, this will fend off "fundamentalism" and magically lead to reciprocity in terms of tolerance towards infidels and apostates and to the abolition of Islamic gender and religious apartheid.

According to Canadian professor and author, Dr. Salim Mansur, multiculturalism and the appeasement of tribalism defeats the possibility of citizenship and amounts to a form of "soft bigotry." As Pascal Bruckner has phrased it: "Multiculturalism is the racism of the anti-racists; it chains people to their roots." Immigrants are kept confined to their "group" and not encouraged or expected to become "individuals" and "citizens" of a modern democracy.......

Canadian Immigration officials in the Middle East lackadascial in their duties

Maybe it's because of the  hot and humid weather there and everybody loves their  siestas including Jason Kenney's trusted employees.   However, their inefficiency might  cost Canada millions if not billions in case of one or more of those countries going  into wars  and the Canadians of convenience clamoring to escape from those hellholes.

....The report notes the motive is money because highly skilled workers, such as engineers and nurses from Canada and other western countries, get double the salary of other foreign nationals doing the same work.

“An Indian national working in Kuwait will receive a significant salary increase if he acquires a British passport,” noted the report.

Immigration lawyer Richard Kurland sees another problem.

“If there’s instability in that Middle East country Canada historically will pay to bring to safety Canadian residents – permanent residents,” said Kurland. “So, it’s a cheap insurance policy paid for by the people of Canada for non-residents.”

Kurland says the consequences aren’t tough enough for fraudsters. “The only sanction practically is non-renewal of their plastic (residency) card,” he said.

Burhami is referring to the famous Mecca/Medina division: when Muhammad was weak and outnumbered in his early Mecca period, he preached peace and made pacts with infidels; when he became strong in the Medina period, he preached war and went on the offensive. This dichotomy—preach peace when weak, wage war when strong—has been instructive to Muslims for ages.....

The top United Nations human rights official criticized Iraq on Tuesday for carrying out a large number of executions, including 34 on a single day last week, and voiced concern about due process and the fairness of trials.

“Even if the most scrupulous fair trial standards were observed, this would be a terrifying number of executions to take place in a single day,” U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said, in a statement referring to executions carried out on Jan. 19.

“Given the lack of transparency in court proceedings, major concerns about due process and fairness of trials, and the very wide range of offences for which the death penalty can be imposed in Iraq, it is a truly shocking figure,” she added.

At least 63 people are believed to have been executed since mid-November in Iraq, where the death penalty can be imposed for some 48 crimes including a number related to non-fatal crimes such as damage to public property, Pillay said.....

Citing Ontario’s failure to fully open energy markets to competition, Direct Energy is moving its corporate headquarters to Houston, eliminating 500 jobs in Toronto.

The company will continue to operate in Ontario, where it employs about 2,000 people servicing water heaters, heating and air conditioning units, and offering energy contracts for electricity and natural gas.

But most of the corporate office staff will be laid off over the next 12 to 18 months as the company moves to Texas from the current headquarters on Sheppard Ave. E. near Victoria Park Ave.

Few of the Toronto staff will be offered positions in Houston, said spokeswoman Hilary Marshall. She said the move to Houston is consistent with the company’s outlook for expansion.

“We’re a company with a growth strategy built on the need for deregulation,” she said. “We envision that the majority of our growth is going to come from the U.S. where we’re seeing more regions opening up” to competition.

The northeastern states offer growth prospects for electricity, she said, and Direct Energy has been active buying up other energy retailers in that market. In Ontario, the electricity market “is not open to competition, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to move in a direction where you’re going to have competitive wholesale markets, which is a requirement for competition,” she said.

The continuing torture of Iraqis by Iraqis ... after a wrongful war that should rightly have been in Saudi Arabia

Not bombing Saudi Arabia and their black asteroid or comet or whateverthefuck they have in Mecca was the biggest mishap of the Bush administration.  We all know it but few of us really come out and say the obvious.

...The walls of Um Hussein's living room in Baghdad are hung with the portraits of her missing sons. There are four of them, and each picture frame is decorated with plastic roses and green ribbons as an improvised wreath for the dead.

Um Hussein had six children. Her eldest son was killed by Sunni insurgents in 2005, when they took control of the neighbourhood. Three of her remaining sons were kidnapped by a Shia militia group when they left the neighbourhood to find work. They were never seen again.

She now lives with the rest of her family – a daughter, her last son, Yassir, and half a dozen orphaned grandchildren – in a tiny two-room apartment where the stink of sewage and cooking oil seeps through a thin curtain that separates the kitchen from the living room.

Um Hussein looks to be in her 60s and has one milky white eye. She is often confused and talks ramblingly about the young men in the portraits as if they are alive, then shouts at her daughter to bring tea. She told the Guardian how she had to fight to release Yassir from jail.

Yassir was detained in 2007. For three years she heard nothing of him and assumed he was dead like his brothers. Then one day she took a phone call from an officer who said she could go to visit him if she paid a bribe. She borrowed the money from her neighbour and set off for the prison......

....Apparently part of “the largest Wahhabi hacker group of Saudi Arabia” called Group-XP, 0xOmar posted a statement earlier this month on an Israeli sports website alleging to have hacked into a number of Israeli credit card companies. The hacker claimed to have obtained over 400,000 Israelis’ credit card information and proceeded to release them online with the aim of “making Israeli credit cards untrustable [sic] in the world.”

The security breach was confirmed by Israel David, CEO of Israel Credit Cards-Cal Ltd, and the Bank of Israel. However, Israeli officials insisted that the matter is under control and that only 14,000 valid credit cards have been compromised.

A second batch of 11,000 Israeli credit card details was released by 0xOmar, with a statement ridiculing Israeli claims. In this statement, the hacker added that he has “hacked much more than you can imagine” by penetrating into “more than 80 Israeli servers,” including about one million pieces of credit card data and information from “Israeli military contractor companies.”

Israeli news agencies claimed that an Israeli student identified a 19 year old Emirati in Mexico as the hacker on January 6.

This prompted a third response by 0xOmar, who mockingly denied that he/she had been tracked. The hacker taunted Israeli security agencies to find him/her as part of a game, “You have 2 weeks. If I come back and post another message after 2 weeks, simply you failed and I won the game. Game just started [you lost already, let’s give you another lesson that you are easily defeatable [sic]].” ...........

To investigate the practicality of allowing Canadians of the Muslim faith to practice
Sharia law. The Commission head (a former Attorney General in the Bob Rae NDP Government)
Presented the Commission findings to the succeeding Provincial Government to allow
Limited use of Sharia Law for Canadians of the Muslim faith. The recommendation was rejected.
It should never have gone that far and in fact, the issue should never have reached
A discussion stage, let alone the formation of a commission.
It is politically incorrect to wish our fellow Canadians Merry Christmas.

The explosion, which struck in Maidan neighborhood, targeted a bus carrying security forces, sources told Al-Manar TV. The Syrian Television said the bomb caused casualties among both civilians and security force personnel. It added that at least 25 people were martyred, 46 others were wounded in Maidan bombing. Most of the martyrs were civilians since that a school nears the explosion region which is over-crowded. Another bomb at the site was defused by the Syrian security forces.....

A federal judge has ordered the immediate removal of a Christian prayer mural displayed in the auditorium of a Rhode Island high school, saying it violated a U.S. constitutional ban on state-sponsored prayer in public schools.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Lagueux rejected the school's claims that the message in the mural - which opens with "Our Heavenly Father" and closes with "Amen" - was purely secular.

"No amount of debate can make the School Prayer anything other than a prayer, and a Christian one at that," Lagueux wrote in a 40-page opinion.

Jessica Ahlquist, a student at Cranston High School West, sued the city of Cranston and its school committee in April 2011 to remove the banner, which dates back to 1963. As an atheist, Ahlquist said the mural made her feel excluded and ostracized. She accused the school of violating the Establishment Clause of the Constitution's First Amendment, which prevents the government from promoting one religion over another.

School officials responded that the banner was a historical memento of the school's founding days and did not serve any religious purpose. The prayer encourages values of honesty, kindness, friendship and sportsmanship.

Joseph Cavanagh, a lawyer for the city and school officials, said they were analyzing the opinion to determine whether to file an appeal......

Hamas-linked CAIR had absolutely nothing to say this past week when the Taliban shot Americans in the back at a volleyball game and tore dozens of innocent Muslims to shreds at a market (see picture), but it exploded in "disgust" over disrespect shown to dead terrorists.

PI Bill Warner .... makes a difference

Bill Warner, a Private Investigator from Florida,  puts his life on the line to expose jihadists and infidel haters.

FoxNews reporting in 2008, said this of him: Cyber vigilantes typically troll the Internet, searching message boards, Web sites and media sharing sites for incendiary postings from people with ties to terror groups like Al Qaeda. Using Arabic translation software, they monitor postings and even assume fake identities to join online conversations.

One of them is Bill Warner, a Sarasota, Fla.-based private investigator and a self-proclaimed cyber-crusader.

Just last month alone, Warner was instrumental in helping shut down three Web sites hosted by a Tampa Internet service provider (ISP) that contained text, images and video related to attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan............

Most Judges are very flawed creatures of the night

It's a deplorable state of affairs when judges and most often jurors too, can no longer be trusted to do the right thing.

A panel of federal judges has ruled that states cannot protect their courts from jurists who base their decisions on international or Koranic law. America needs better judges.

On Tuesday, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a federal district court order blocking implementation of an amendment to the Oklahoma constitution that sought to ban judges from using international or Muslim law as a basis for deciding cases. The amendment was approved in November 2010 by a 70 percent popular vote but has never been enforced. Plaintiff Muneer Awad, executive director of the Oklahoma branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), argued that the amendment infringed on his First Amendment rights. The appeals court agreed.......
